☆「Beyondクラス」は1~3才までの      幼児と保護者
☆ Beyond Class is for toddlers 1-3 years old and their parent/guardian

With a multisensory approach including singing, signing, movement, watching, we enjoy spending time together in an English environment.

「Beyond」は「さらに先へ」の意味で、このクラスでは英語とサインにふれあうことを通して、これから学んでいく上での基礎をつくる機会です。
内容は英語とサインによる絵本の読み聞かせ、手遊び、歌、工作などです。

Why Sign?　どうして手話（サイン）なの？

There are so many good reasons to teach a child sign language. Here are just a few:

子どもに手話（サイン）を教える良い理由はたくさんあります。そのいくつかを挙げてみます。

☆ Babies can sign before they can talk. A signing baby is able to communicate his/her needs without tears and tantrums.　赤ちゃんは話せるようになる前にサインを使うことができます。サインを使う赤ちゃんは、泣いたりわめいたりすることなく、自分のニーズを伝えることができます。

☆ Signing is very helpful when trying to understand a toddler's unclear pronunciation of spoken words.　サインを使うことは、小さい子どもが話すはっきりしない発音のことばを理解するのにとても助けになります。

☆ When learning English as a second language using signs can make it easier to remember new words and their meaning.　英語を学ぶときにサインをいっしょに使うと、新しい単語やその意味が覚えやすくなります。

☆ Sign language is a real language used by many people. The more languages you know, the more people you can talk with!　手話（サイン・ランゲージ）は多くの人に使われている言語（ランゲージ）です。より多くの言語を知れば知るほど、より多くの人たちと話せるようになるでしょう！

July 2014 Potty Time Workshop Dates

Are you thinking about potty training your baby or toddler? Not sure how to get started or at what age to start? Come to a Potty Time Workshop in Tokyo lead by Master Signing Time instructor, and mother of 2, Heidi! Two Little Hands, the makers of Signing Time, have put together a great set of resources to help parents, teachers and kids have a positive potty training experience. These are the foundation of the Potty Time Workshop.  Heidi's unique combination of information and humor helps set the tone for a positive potty training experience. There is no "right" way to potty train but she will equip you with various ideas so you will be able to find a style to match your child and your family.

☆クラスでは英語と日本語を使いますが、英語が話せなくてもかまいません。

In the Baby Signing Time☆ Sign and Play ☆ Class we focus on learning to communicate using ASL (American Sign Language) signs with infants and toddlers.

☆ Classes are taught in a English/Japanese bilingual format to accommodate speakers of any level in Japanese and English.

ハイディー先生は2009年よりベビー・サイニング・タイムの“サイン＆プレイ”クラスを教えています。彼女はさまざまな教育の現場で15年以上にわたって子どもたちとのかかわりをもっています。

ベビー・サイニングを使う二児の母親として、彼女は日々の生活の一部としてサインを直に経験しています。また彼女の家族は、家庭内で話される日本語と英語の架け橋としてもサインを用いています。

Bathing Baby Dolls

In the Takenotsuka class this week we learned the signs for taking a bath and getting ready for bed. We practiced the signs by bathing, dressing and tucking baby dolls into bed. We even read/signed them a bedtime story!

Theme: Colors and Toys  色とおもちゃ

プレイ・グループは季節ごとに開催される、サインと英語を楽しむ集まりです。

Play Group is a seasonal event, a chance to gather with other signing families.

Who is Play Group for? どなたが参加することができますか？

ベビー・サイニング・タイムクラスの生徒さんや卒業生にとっては、

クラスではカバーされていない新しい内容を学べるという利点があります。

サインをやってみようかと考えている人にとっては、サインを使っている家族の人たちと話したり、サインを使っている赤ちゃんや幼児を目にする機会となるでしょう。

どちらかで既にサインを学んでいる方ももちろん大歓迎です。

Baby Signing Time students and graduates will learn signs not covered in the regular course.

Those who are interested in signing with their child will get a chance to see how other children are able to communicate both with sign language and Japanese/English.

Families who have studied on their own or in a class elsewhere are welcome to come and enjoy spending time with other ASL-based signers.

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

This week is off week for Hana House Baby Signing Time classes. Next week will be Takenotsuka's off week.

今週のハナハウスのベビー・サイニングタイム・クラスはoff weekでした。来週は竹の塚のoff weekになります。

At Hana House last week we had our "Bugs Stop, Bugs Go" lesson. We searched for bugs, pretended to be bugs and practiced stopping and going like bugs!

この前のアドバンスクラスは虫のサインを学びました。こちらにクラス以外のサインを紹介します。

We recently had an interview visit at Hana House from Sukusuku Noppo-kun (スクスクのっぽくん).  The homepage features interviews with various well known professionals who share advice and ideas about raising children ("生きる力"の育て方).  The article is only in Japanese but you can read it (or use a translator to try to read it!) here (英語で学び、”自然と多言語の中で育つ”環境を).

Baby Signing Time classes were recently featured on TV and in a newspaper.

TV Air Date

ハイディー先生がハナハウスで教えているベビー・サイニングタイム・クラスがテレビに出るそうです！4月8日（月）午後11時～放送のテレビ東京「ワールド ビジネス サテライト」 （http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/wbs/）の特集の中で。

In a post earlier this week I mentioned thy we had a TV crew visit Hana House to get some footage of siging babies/toddlers for an upcoming show. The show is World Business Satalite on TV Tokyo and it is set to air on April 8th at 11 PM.  They can't promise that we'll be on the show but it seems that we're still in the plan for the show!
